How to Play "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire (The Christmas Song)" on the Ukulele

Roasting chestnuts on an open fire."The Christmas Song" is the Christmas song of all songs, but many know this holiday favorite under a different name— "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire".  It may not be as old as other Christmastime favorites, like "Jingle Bells" or "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", but thanks to Mel Tormé and Bob Wells, it's now a quintessential Xmas song, even for ukulele players.

In the video below, Ukulele Mike gives you the perfect instructions for playing "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" on the uke.  Now, the ukulele doesn't sound like a traditional Christmas instrument, but it almost sounds more festive than others, making it the perfect instrument of choice for the holidays.

So, enjoy the uke lesson and have a "Merry Christmas to You".

"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting Over an Open Fire)" Lyrics

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,

Jack Frost nipping on your nose,

Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,

And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,

Help to make the season bright.

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,

Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way;

He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.

And every mother's child is going to spy,

To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,

To kids from one to ninety-two,

Although its been said many times, many ways,

A very Merry Christmas to you
